The Village Voices Chorale gave $14,000 as grants to 21 elementary schools and scholarships to 5 local college vocal students in Spring, 2011, and over $100,000 in the last 10 years!

Because the members of the chorale love to sing, and know well the benefits of singing, they began years ago to promote vocal programs in local elementary schools.  The chorale performs two concerts a year and uses the proceeds to give grants to the schools for such items as buying or tuning pianos, purchasing music, or even providing transportation for a chorus to a local district musical program.

The VILLAGE VOICES CHORALE is a spirited community chorus for adults who love to sing. Directed by Gloria Hilliard and accompanied by Christine DeKlotz, the 60+ voice chorale delights its listeners with a wide variety of music from Classical to Broadway and Contemporary. Founded in 1969 as a non-profit organization, the Village Voices Chorale makes financial contributions to support vocal school music programs and provides scholarships to students majoring in voice.  

We rehearse in Westlake Village, California, and perform primarily at the Scherr Forum Theatre, in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

The Village Voices have spread their love of singing across America and the world, from singing the Faure Requiem under John Rutter at New York City's Carnegie Hall in 2001 to our international tours and performances.  This year, the Village Voices traveled to France, where we sang in Paris, Chartres, and Nice.

The Village Voices Chorale announces open auditions beginning January 08, 2012 for its Spring Concert season. Interested men and women singers from throughout Ventura and Los Angeles Counties may call (805) 493-0495 for an audition appointment. Choral singing experience and good sight-reading skills are a plus. The group rehearses on Tuesday nights in Westlake Village.

The Chorale's Spring Concert, "California Connections”, will be held in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Scherr Forum Theatre at 8:00 p.m. on June 1 and June 2, 2012. Directed by Gloria Hilliard and accompanied by Christine DeKlotz, the Village Voices Chorale offers an entertaining blend of choral music from classical to Broadway.

The Village Voices Chorale performs at the Scherr Forum Theatre of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Traditionally, holiday concerts are presented the first weekend in December and spring concerts the first weekend in June. The Village Voices also welcomes invitations to sing for corporate functions and for special occasions in the community.

In September, 2011 we sang for the Goebel Center's 20th anniversary celebration.  We have sung in December at Pierce Brothers for their annual Memorial Service, and joined other choirs there for Memorial Day.

In January, 2009 we joined with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic and a number of very talented instrumental soloists in Opus 23, featuring the Beethoven Choral Fantasy.

The Village Voices Music Awards Program consists of annual scholarships awarded to local students majoring in vocal music, and financial donations to local elementary school music programs. A highlight of the Village Voices Chorale spring concerts is the appearance of our winners and recipients - gifted young performers and delightful elementary school choral groups. Concert goers are treated to graceful presentations from scholarship winners who are considering a career in vocal music, perhaps even in opera, and whose command of the art form is already impressively apparent.

Please note: applications should be submitted for both Scholarship applications postmarked on or before Friday, February 24, 2012.   Auditions will be held for local students on Sunday, March 4 2012,
